Opened in 1915, Wilkinson Public School has been part of the Danforth/Donlands community for 100 years. Our school is rich in cultural diversity, with 500 students speaking over 25 different languages. This provides an exciting opportunity for all our students to learn about and celebrate many different cultures. At Wilkinson we work towards building a welcoming, respectful, and safe school environment for everyone. Our dedicated staff and parents work together to create a close-knit school community for the benefit of our whole neighbourhood.
Collaborative Inquiries
Throughout the year, teachers work collaboratively in professional learning teams to support student learning and improve student achievement. These Collaborative Inquiry Pathways are guided by our School Improvement Plan and inform our teaching practice. Our teams work together to clarify intended outcomes, develop common assessments and jointly analyze student achievement data. We share strategies and materials and engage in collective action research regarding student learning.
Interesting Feature
Mid Extended French Program
Our Mid-Extended French program begins in grade 4. Instruction is in French for half of the day and English for the other half. French Language, Social Studies, Art and Drama are taught in French with Math, Science, Music and Physical Education being taught in English.
Student Life - Where You Belong
In addition to excellent classroom instruction, students also have a variety of co-curricular activities from which to choose. They include band, choir, music camp, ukulele lessons, house league sports, track and field, environmental and United Nations club. We also have a number of visiting artists throughout the year, Prologue to the Performing Arts and each classroom has a "Scientists in the Schools" session every year.
