At McMurrich We're Building Dreams
In 1912, a new school proudly bearing the name of the first chair of the Toronto School Board opened its doors at 115 Winona Drive. Today, 100 years later McMurrich Junior School is a robust thriving community of educators, support staff, parents and highly motivated children. It is a community where students are helped to discover their dreams and aspirations in life. We offer a comprehensive school program for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6.
Student Success
McMurrich Junior School is committed to student success. Teachers conduct regular assessment to ensure programming is responsive to student needs. The school support team meets monthly to provide support for students and families. Complementing the regular programs McMurrich has Reading Recovery, ESL and Special Education programs.
Eco School
McMurrich is just beginning its journey to becoming an Eco School. Our focus is on increasing the amount we recycle, on reducing the amount of garbage we produce and on becoming more aware of the amount of energy we consume. Students are learning to take responsibility for their decisions and to be advocates for a greener tomorrow.
Student Life - Where You Belong
Student life is rich and varied at McMurrich Junior School. The library is the hub of the school running reading programs for primary, and junior students. The gymnasium is always busy with teams practising for competition or extra curricular activities. The McMurrich teams regularly finish amongst the top teams in Toronto. In Music the grade five and grade six students have the opportunity to learn how to play not only a band or string instrument but also Steel Pans. The McMurrich Steel Pan group have been regular participants at the annual TDSB Panfest.

There is an annual school / community BBQ in June, and a multicultural Pot Luck at school in the autumn. Parents are welcome to assist in classrooms and on trips, in coaching and transporting school teams. Parents can also become involved in the classroom parent program.
