Our School

At Fairview Glen Montessori we are interested in nurturing a child’s talents while we are equally concerned with the development of the whole person. The Toddler (18 months) to Grade 6 programs we offer are firmly rooted in Montessorian principles and methods that teach students to be independent decision makers, share their experiences within a group, develop self control and to use their creative imagination.

Our caring and talented staff are all qualified Montessori teachers well versed in designing the learning environment, and meticulous observers of each child’s behaviour and growth. They are specially trained to deliver a holistic curriculum that allows the child to experience the joy of learning and to provide motivating situations from which children create their knowledge.

Our focus is to provide students with a stimulating and academically challenging education that is deeply committed to the Montessori principles, so that they may reach their full potential with integrity and trust.

Our Programs

Montessori programs conventionally start at age three with multi-aged groups of three, four, and five year old children. The elementary curriculum builds as the children move through the program one year at a time. At Fairview Glen the Montessori programs start at the optimal Preschool or Casa level and continue through the elementary years to the age of twelve. Multi- aged groupings are an essential part of Montessori education. They enhance the learning dynamic by reducing competition, maximizing curriculum options for each child, providing a family atmosphere that plays a vital role in socialization, and permitting older children to model advanced work for younger ones. Our programs group children as follows:

• Casa (Preschool): Ages 3 to 6

• Elementary Program
• Lower Elementary (Gr. 1, 2, 3): Ages 6 to 9
• Upper Elementary (Gr. 4, 5, 6): Ages 9 to 12
