About Bala Avenue Community School

Bala Avenue Community School, built in 1913, is located in the old community of Weston, near the southeast corner of Jane Street and Weston Road. The school currently serves 270 students (Kindergarten to Grade 5), representing approximately 20 different languages. Our school offers the International Languages Elementary Program on Saturdays. This program is designed to give students the opportunity to learn additional languages, other than English and French, and to learn about and appreciate other traditions, customs and cultures.

Bala Avenue Community School is located in Mount Dennis

Primarily located along Eglinton Avenue between the Humber River and the Kitchener commuter rail line, the Mount Dennis neighbourhood was best known for Kodak Heights, once a major film manufacturing facility owned and operated by the Eastman Kodak Company. The area is a classic example of Toronto's diversity, with dozens of ethnic groups represented. The area contains a mix of duplexes, semi-detached and detached homes in addition to multi-level apartment buildings.
