Frontenac opened its doors in 1967. Over the years, our student population has risen and fallen in response to growing demographics of the Halton region. Included in our population are two life skill classes and one mixed exceptionalities class that work to support the various needs of our special learners. We also have a before and afterschool program run by the YMCA.

Our school motto is: "Together, Learning and Caring". We endeavour to hold this true by supporting the various academic and social needs of students. We work diligently to ensure that our school is a safe place for all. We focus on positive mental health and well-being and work to be inclusive in our practice. 

We have an active school council comprised of parents who work diligently to enhance the school experience of each child and their family. Through a variety of initiatives such as off-setting school initiative costs, maintaining our garden beds, providing hot lunches, Movie Night, guest speakers, dance-a-thons, Jingle Bell Junction, etc., our students enjoy a wealth of opportunities.

Students of Frontenac Public School also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities both inside and outside the school. There is something for everyone! We hope that each child's experience here at Frontenac is one that is successful in supporting their academic learning, their social growth and their mental well-being, so that they can look back on their early school life with positive memories!

About Our Name

Frontenac Public School was named in honour of Canadian historical hero Louis de Buade, Comte de Frontenac. As Governor of New France, Frontenac organized successful resistance missions against the British forces. His famous battle accomplishment took place on October 16, 1690, when the British prepared an attack on Quebec City. Although greatly outnumbered, Frontenac used a cunning psychological tactic to outsmart and eventually defeat the British.
