Rockcliffe Middle School offers Grade 6, 7 and 8 students an excellent academic, arts, technology and athletic program. Each day, we focus on ensuring students are working hard , being kind and preparing themselves for College and University success. Our dedicated staff encourages students to be successful and to reach their full potential by maximizing class time. The goal of Rockcliffe Middle School is to authentically engage all students by instilling confidence, broadening horizons and mentoring students to develop habits which lead to success. Rockcliffe Middle School is a place where students and staff are kind, supportive and focused on learning.
Social Development
To help students develop character attributes and strategies to build a better sense of self and community. Students have the opportunity and support to learn how to develop healthy relationships with staff and students. Students foster personal strengths and interests. Students have access to caring adults if they need to seek advice. We work closely with community agencies to further support our students to make healthy choices.

Student Life - Where You Belong
There are so many opportunities for students outside of the classroom!!! There are many chances to develop your leadership skills. For example, we have an Eco-club, Me to We group, and a Student Leadership group. Our band and String orchestra performs regularly. We have many sports teams such as basketball, volleyball, track and field and many more. Design and technology challenges are offered to students in our wood shop! We also celebrate culture in our school. For example we run many activities for Asian Heritage Month, African Heritage Month, Aboriginal Heritage Month. There are lots of chances to show your school Spirit with fun days in the fall and spring. Another huge highlight of the year is "Rockcliffe Idol" where students are able to showcase their talent! (and ROCKCLIFFE HAS TALENT!!!!)
What Sets Us Apart
We are a Model School. Therefore, we are involved in innovative ideas to improve student achievement and meet the needs of our community. We accomplish this by integrated technology into our classrooms. Almost all classrooms have digital LCD projectors to increase student engagement. We teach the curriculum in the context of social justice. We have a music program where all students are given the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument. We have weekly planning and learning meetings with our staff. Use of automated phone system to communicate important messages with families. Mid -term report cards to update parents on student progress. Student-led website is designed to increase communication and gather data. Our school has a newly created design and technology room, where students have opportunities for hands-on learning.
Parent and Community Engagement
Beyond 3:30 daily after school program offers students homework support, a meal and a variety of skill-building activities. Seasonal student performance (Band, Strings, Drama and Choir) for Winter/Spring Concerts, Graduation and Competitions. Character Education - Monthly focus, teaching and modelling of Character Virtues. Students are encouraged to reflect on lessons learned each month. ROC STARS- students receive rewards for academic perseverance, improving relationships with staff and students and positive contributions to community. Partnership with Black Creek Conservation project including tree planting, gardening projects and community clean ups. Babysitting and Interpreters available during Parent Information Evenings and conferences.
